CRM (Customer Relationship Management) – We’ve mentioned before how Microsoft Dynamics CRM can be customized to fit your business’ exact needs. Today we’re going to tell you about one of the quickest and most effective ways to configure your CRM – with custom entities.

What are custom entities?

In Dynamics CRM a custom entity is any business entity that does not come with the CRM software out-of-the-box. So along with the usual standard entities you’re used to (Contacts, Opportunities, Leads, etc.), you can create your own custom entities and configure them to your specific business needs.

Custom entities can be used to track a type of record or data that you have discovered is important, such as software applications used by customers or building/apartment information for other contacts. Just like standard entities in Dynamics CRM, these custom entities can be used on forms and views and in Advanced Finds. You can also define the relationships your custom entities have with other entities, enabling inter-connectivity between disparate data.

We used a relationship between leads and the trade shows they visit in our example, but you can apply it to any situation where you would want to use a custom entity.
