If you are like many other successful businesses that discovered Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 in 2007, then you have probably heard that Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 has reached the end of its life cycle. Some updates for Dynamics GP 10.0 are still available (see below), but for many this marks the end of an era.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 was one of the first accounting software packages capable of performing/saving Macros – the simple art of playing back keystrokes laid out by a user. Besides this minute feature, the Dynamics GP software has also helped companies optimize their buying & inventory management as well as make the right financial decisions for their business.

There are still minor updates available for your Dynamics GP 10.0 package, but if your state decides to change their tax calculations for 2013 then you could face payroll miscalculations thus taking you out of compliance with your state. Extended support for Dynamics GP 10.0 will continue until 2017 but again, if your state changes their calculations you will still need to upgrade to either Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 or the newest iteration Dynamics GP 2013.

Here is the end of life cycle for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, straight from the horses mouth:

Though there is extended support until 2017, if your state makes any tax changes you will need to upgrade to Dynamics GP 2010 or 2013.

Though Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 is available for upgrade (with Dynamics GP 2013 released this month), many will still feel the loss of support for a familiar product that has aided their industry for 5 years. Be sure to start planning your upgrade to Dynamics 2010/2013 soon!
